We kick off Movers & Shakers for September by revisiting a key update at Webgains, who elevated Richard Dennys into the newly made position of CEO at the affiliate marketing network, following a six-month stint as COO.

Dennys brings a wealth of managerial experience courtesy of roles at the BBC, Qype, Tech City UK and Nokia, as well as Fellow status at the UK Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Media networks

It’s been a big few weeks for Dentsu Aegis-owned iProspect, who took on Stefan Bardega to head up the agency’s local division as UK CEO, joining from the role of global chief digital officer at ZenithOptimedia

In this month iProspect made Ruth Stubbs, formerly CEO for APAC, the agency’s global CEO, taking over from predecessor Ben Wood (now Facebook) and shifting the centre of the agency’s operations to Singapore.

Away from iProspect but still in Dentsu, display ad specialist Wayne Blodwell said farewell to his post as head of programmatic product activation for the network’s trading desk Amplifi, announcing the launch of his own consultancy, The Programmatic Advisory. Since then, KBH Digital has appointed Blodwell as advisor.

At a similar scale, GroupM’s specialist programmatic division Exchange Lab appointed AOL former head of international revenue, Penny Harris, to the position of senior vice president of international business development, tasked with building relationships and growth strategy for all markets outside of North America.

Ad tech

The tail-end of the month saw Yahoo announce James Attwater into the newly-created role of regional agency partner, with a focus on growing the group’s ad business in key cities outside of London. Most recently Attwater was regional sales manager for mobile and location-based marketing company xAd.

Data science and media tech company 4C made a trio of senior hires following a funding round. Anupam Gupta, formerly of Vubiquity, joined as chief product officer, while Josh Linforth and Jacques Turner have joined in business development. The latter two join from TVTY and Maxus respectively.

A company operating on the tech-side of location-based marketing, Blis has signed up Gil Larsen as vice president of Americas, poached from another company in the location realm – Thinknear – where he served as regional vice president.

In a similar vein, location intelligence company Cubeiq appointed Lauren McGrath as vice president of revenue development – a new role – having worked as cross-screen mobile advertising platform UberMedia where she led the development of mobile channel partnerships before the switch.

Finally, industry body, Association of Online Publishers (AOP), has taken on a new chairman. Jo Holdaway, strategic & commercial data director at ESi Media as Tim Faircliff steps away from the role.
