At SMG we believe that the creation of dynamic experiences that truly resonate with our clients target audiences are key to successful brand building. These talented individuals embrace digital in all its facets as part of the SMG team to ensure our clients maintain competitive advantage in an industry that’s continually evolving.

Within the last six months/year, what stands out as the company’s major milestones?

To help foster greater integration and to help connect our clients with consumers in a world that’s continuing to develop and advance digitally, we’ve recently restructured the business around three core areas: precision marketing, content marketing and innovation.  The focus on precision marketing has enabled us secure a lot of new business of varying sizes through a data driven digital approach. Most recently we were delighted to take on our first B2B account Touch Financial (The UK’s largest invoice finance broker).

Duration in current role:

I’ve been with SMG for the last six years and have in the last six months moved into my current role as managing partner.

Where are you based?

Currently we are based in SMG’s Whitfield Street office located in London’s Noho district.  But in early 2015, the whole UK operation will be moving East to the newly refurbished Turnmills night club building in Farringdon.

Previous performance marketing-related companies you have worked at:

Previously I occupied key roles at MEC and Weboptimiser where I worked across a client portfolio, including Citi, Hiscox, Monster, Nationwide and Sony.

What are your main job responsibilities?

As managing partner of precision marketing, I’m responsible for the development of our data-driven media proposition which encompasses all digital channels including search, social, display, video and mobile. With a keen focus on the migration of traditional media into the world of digitalisation.

Outside of this, I am lucky enough to be able to get involved in a wide range of areas across our business. I get to work with exciting new businesses across a wide range of areas including the technology industry and interesting start-ups to identify new and exciting opportunities for our clients. One of the best things about my role is having the ability to connect brands with new innovation.

Take us through what you get up to on a typical working Monday:

In the world of digital and real time marketing no two days are the same and this is what makes my role so exciting. My Mondays could range from leadership meeting and business planning, to travelling around the globe working with clients and partners to identify the next big opportunity.

What top three websites can you be found browsing during your lunch hour?

My most frequently visited site is probably LinkedIn, it’s a great aggregation of content from people I’m connected to allowing me to keep up to date with areas of interest. Outside of this I’m often on Mashable ensuring I’m up to date on the latest tech and innovation/changes. My other favourite site is BBC News as it’s important to keep up with current affairs.

What are your top three tips for someone looking to get their hands on a job like yours?

  1. Having the right attitude and personality, always work hard and aim high.
  2. Be forward thinking and ahead of the curve.
  3. Believing that nothing is impossible!

Career-wise, where do you see yourself in three years’ time?

As I’ve recently taken on the role as Managing Partner here at SMG, the next three years will be focused on realising the vision of connecting our clients with exciting innovation and helping them grow. With consumers very much leading industry these days we need to ensure that our clients and our business move at the pace of people.

Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you?

As a child I had football trials with a number of premiership football clubs but was never quite good enough to make it to a professional playing level.
