Your Week in Performance Marketing – December 1

As we creep closer to Christmas and with the bedlam of Black Friday weekend now behind us, we turned our focus on next year’s Performance Marketing Awards, industry leading advice and the top digital marketing stories hitting the headlines this week.

The build up to next year’s Performance Marketing Awards is well underway and the judging panel is starting to come together, including Jon Myers, VP & managing director EMEA at Marin Software, who shares his thoughts on the merging of digital channels and what he’ll be looking for in Performance Marketing Award entries.  We also prepared a comprehensive guide on how to craft a winning entry.

Frosty relationships

TopCashBack becomes the latest publisher to experience the frosty reception top brands, including Sky and Marks & Spencer, are continuing to offer cashback browser extensions, and the motion from the EU Parliament calling for Google to split up its various online businesses to break dominance in Europe has been branded as “too little, too late”.

Black Friday frenzy

The aftermath of Black Friday has given our content team plenty to write about, from the top retailers in paid search, to the loss of revenue due to slow checkout processes and the rise in online purchases over Thanksgiving.

Retail giant Debenhams was knocked out of the top ten for paid search visibility in women’s party wear during the Black Friday weekend, with high-end retailer Reiss leaping ahead of Asos and John Lewis for men’s party wear in the latest survey from Net Media Planet.
