Global Ad Exchange Sets Up Shop in Germany

OpenX, a provider of digital and advertising technology, has announced the latest step in its international expansion, the opening of a new regional office in Munich and its first in Germany.

The office’s primary objective will be to support publishers and advertisers across Europe’s German-speaking markets with the help of Dimo Velev, who will head up the office in this newly created DACH regional director position.

Velev, an ex-InMobi  and Yahoo man, has been assigned the task of ramping up German publisher-supplied inventory and demand from German buyers. He’ll also be putting the OpenX Ad server in front of the country’s enterprise publishers.

OpenX combines a real-time bidding marketplace with ad-serving technology for advertisers and publishers. Its ad server is sold as a software as a service that stores banner and video ads before displaying them when a user loads a page.

Germany’s Burgeoning Online Population

Stats about Germany having the second largest online population in Europe, after Russia, and being the second biggest spender in Western Europe aren’t lost on OpenX chief revenue officer, Jason Fairchild.

“The DACH market is one of the strongest contributors to ad spending growth in Europe,”  Fairchild said. “Dimo’s appointment, the opening of our Munich office and the establishment of a German team are each significant steps in furthering our mission to unleash the full economic potential of digital media businesses worldwide.”

Germany’s new OpenX presence brings the total number of offices to five, after opening a Japanese office in Tokyo a year ago. The  company also operates in Los Angeles, New York and London.
