With Day 1’s emphatic day of insightful sessions, networking and celebrations, the second day of PI LIVE delivered an eclectic programme of panel discussions and relationships as the show broke down more silos into the latest trends of performance marketing.

Here are some of the top highlights from Day 2.

Inside insights, diversity and the next generation of affiliate marketing

New to PI LIVE this year was the 8-Minute Insights — quickfire hard-hitting sessions from emerging technology publishers shaking up the performance marketing space. Talks from LatestFree Stuff, RevLifter and Voz Lab all demonstrated innovation and influences on why they’re transforming the channel.

On the mainstage, Tradedoubler CEO Matthias Stadelmeye and country manager DACH, Claudia Batschi Rota broke down the opportunities that are driving the next generation of affiliate marketing, including the influence of big data, influencer marketing and blockchain technology.

However, one of the standout talks of the morning was the Insider Insights – Time to Rethink Your Strategy. This session saw fresh faces from Optimise, Acceleration Partners, Equator and Student Beans presenting for the very first time on some of the common issues faced by affiliate marketers today – encouraging more diversity into the spotlight.

Speaking of diversity, over in the Kindred Theatre at the Influencer Marketing Show, Amie Caitlin Shearer’s moderated panel with William Soulier (Talent Village), Nicole Ocran (The Fifth) and Simon Ragoonanan (Hopster) highlighted the importance of actively considering diversity and representation as part of your influencer marketing campaign. Each person also shared some excellent examples of working with brands that demonstrated the above successfully.

Adding value, media buyers and performance punch

Over to the afternoon activities as a number of sessions covered the breathed of affiliate marketing. All Inclusive Marketing founder and CEO Sarah Bundy delivered a brilliant session on the role of affiliates in the customer journey, understanding the right KPI’s where affiliates add value and sharing a solid checklist of items to test and implement for the coming year.

The second Keynote at the show saw A4D CEO Jason Akatiff reflect on the history of affiliate marketing from blackhat to whitehat as he discussed how we should effectively be using and working with media buyers and what the future opportunities lie for media buying for affiliates. Then the last session of the day saw agencies Rebrain (Alex Major, CEO), NMPi (Max Flajsner, head of performance) and Connexity UK (Jon Lord, VP, business development) team up to showcase the ultimate setup of Google CSS and PLA, demonstrating how we can trigger the right tools and tricks to maximise conversion and ROI in addition to unlocking fresh traffic sources as an affiliate.

While PI LIVE hosted some fantastic sessions, the networking opportunities, competitions and the ever-popular Performance Punch provided much refreshing excitement and fun across the two days. Congrats to those who won prizes, the speakers that discussed head-to-head topics and all the meetings and catch-ups to building on existing partnerships and discovering new relationships for the future ahead.

PerformanceIN journalists were on-site at PI LIVE across the two-days as we interviewed several sponsors and speakers at the conference. Stay tuned over the next week for the full conversations from this year’s show!
