International affiliate network Webgains continues its expansion plans in EMEA with the latest addition to the company, Derek Freer, joining the team as UK managing director.

Arriving from his previous role as managing director for affiliate network Pepperjam, Freer will closely work with CEO Richard Dennys to grow the network’s UK client advertiser portfolio, which includes brands such as Samsung, Nike, Oakley and Feel Unique.

The new MD will also be working closely with the company’s key functional positions, including group head of publisher development, Ami Spencer; group head of client strategy, Mumtaz Khamker and newly-promoted group head of client services, Alona Malinovska.

On the appointment of Freer, Dennys said that his business network, commercial expertise and extensive experience of working with both advertisers and publishers will be “invaluable” for helping Webgains accelerate growth in the coming months.

“We are committed to challenging and disrupting outdated players, processes and technologies in the affiliate marketing industry and having Derek on board will strengthen and speed up our ability to do this,” said Dennys.

On joining Webgains, Freer said he has seen the business grow first hand on the basis of flexible technology, a great working team and building quality relationships.

“More recently I have been impressed how this is being driven by a fresh, competitive strategy and delivered with outstanding execution by Richard and his excellent team across the world,” said Dennys; “I am incredibly excited to be involved in continuing to grow and evolve Webgains to ensure our clients get the edge over their competitors.”

The news follows the network’s confirmation of two new European offices openings in Munich and Milan, and a year in which the network proved a “major growth driver” for parent company Ad Pepper Group exceeding year-on-year growth and onboarding a host of new clients.
