January always proves to be a bumper month for hires, and with a volley of high-profile new appointments, this edition of Movers & Shakers certainly doesn’t disappoint.

The month opened with the IAB’s official introduction of new CEO, Jon Mew – a promotion for the trade body’s former chief operating officer, while predecessor Guy Phillipson joined the board of iCrossing.

For the affiliate industry, perhaps most notable was Affiliate Window’s hiring of new UK country manager, Ian Charlesworth, having held the role of managing director for Ovum IT.

The affiliate network welcomed back Rosalyn Berrisford from Omnicom Media, while seeing the departure of former country manager Anthony Clements, operations director Anjulie Truong, and client services director Nick Caulfield, now at Expedia.

Other network news came with CJ Affiliate hiring former Yieldify enterprise director James Maley as commercial director.

Agency add-ons

IProspect promoted Tom Cull to chief operating officer in UK and Ireland – a newly-created position – having managed the agency’s Manchester hub. Meanwhile, former mSIX employee Kirsten Pistor has been appointed as head of biddable, replacing now Singapore-stationed Stuart McLennan.

A high-profile business win meant a brace of APAC hires for DigitasLBi; Ben McAneny joined as regional business director, while Alvin Kirk joined as senior manager. Additionally, appointed senior media planner was Vinay Devarapalli, along with EJ Segovia arriving from Dentsu Singapore.

GroupM announced Paul Rowlinson as the new managing director for [m]PLATFORM in the UK. Rowlinson had previously spent 13 years at Mindshare UK, originally as head of investment before becoming COO.

At Havas Media in New York, Jon Dupuis became the group’s first chief performance marketing officer joining from the rank of EVP at DigitasLBi, and in doing so, also becomes MD for the office.

Merkle announced former Tectonic VP and chief data officer, Ankur Jain, to lead its cloud-based marketing solutions development, bringing leadership experience at Tectonic’s acquiring firm Archipelago, and Dell and America Online.

Finally, a number heavyweight hires came for Quantcast, which took on Brian McNamara and Glyn Shadwell as directors of global partnerships from Dentsu Aegis and Carat respectively. From Havas Media in Dubai, Mark De Rijke joined as international partnerships director, and Exchange Lab’s Simon Murkerjee joined to head UK and EMEA client and agency partnerships.

Publishing picks

In the world of publishing, ad solutions and strategy group PubMatic appointed its former VP of international marketing, Emma Newman, to the role of country manager UK, reporting to the company’s VP of EMEA, Bill Swainson.

Shortlist Media, pioneer of the ‘freemium’ publishing model, announced Owen Wyatt, former head of UK advertising sales at CNN International, to the role of MD of commercial.

Meanwhile, Katie Ingram joined newspaper publisher ESI Media as director of trade marketing and insight, working across the company’s brands, which include The Independent, the London Evening Standard and indy100.

Native advertising tech platform Nativo onboarded John Haake to the role of SVP of marketing. Haake previously served as the CMO at Flashtalking and has held leadership roles at Rocket Fuel, HookLogic, Turn, and MediaMind.

Programmatic talent

California-based Rocket Fuel has been busy reorganising, with current SVP and managing director of international David Gosen expanding into the role of GM of platform solutions & international, while current SVP of product, Simon Hayhurst, became GM of media services.

Alexander Franke has joined the Berlin-based programmatic video solutions company evania video GmbH as director of publisher development, joining from plista, where he was director of publisher development.

UK media buying agency Total Media promoted Celine Saturnino into the newly-created position of chief commercial officer from head of media operations, and former TEA executive Remy Wasyluk has been hired as VP of sales for global interactive content platform Apester, joining from programmatic video advertising platform Teads, where he served as head of sales from 2013 to 2016.

Data delegations

Real-time customer engagement tech company Rant & Rave has appointed Kenny Bain as its chief executive officer, having served as MD for EMEA at Verint.

Specialising in intent marketing, Iotec added Jenita Rahman as chief finance officer and Claire Beney as human resources director. Prior, Rahman held the same title at Island Records, while Beney also held the same at The Moment Content Company.

In email marketing, Daniel Incandela sealed a promotion at Return Path, taking the step up from senior VP of global marketing to CMO.

London-based CRM specialist ITG Creator has appointed a new managing director in Paul Kearney,  joining from global engineering and project management giant Bechtel Corporation, where he spent three years in various senior roles.

David Glantz is the name of Munich-based Loyalty Partner Solutions’ new head of presales and marketing, joining the specialist in loyalty, digitalization and omnichannel marketing from Comarch AG, most recently as director of presales & service implementation.

Video players

Video ad tech Realeyes hired former Toluna and Harris Interactive exec Tina Gaffney as head of customer success, most recently holding the position of vice president of client success at SaaS research company AceMetrix.

And finally, mobile video platform LoopMe welcomed aboard Mike Buckley as VP of strategic partnerships from the Telegraph, where he was digital commercial director while promoting the group’s former head of global client services, Helene Bouteille to VP of client services.
