It’s been 15 years since Google launched its AdWords advertising service, seeing it become the search giant’s biggest source of revenue and changing the digital marketing landscape indefinitely.

AdWords has clocked up some impressive statistics in that time, including that the average business using the service makes two dollars on every one that they spend, while its top 25 US search-ad buyers alone spend $1.34 billion in 2013.
