Mobile first hotel price comparison publisher Lodgeo has announced that it has secured £2 million of investment for its launch.

Raised from the Javest Investment fund and three other angel investors who prefer to remain anonymous, the £2 million is to be spent on enhancing Lodgeo’s technology and launching its next phase of international marketing initiatives.

Lodgeo aggregates data from the web’s biggest online travel agents (OTAs) to give consumers the lowest prices without being redirected to external sites. These include existing metasearch platforms such as Top10 and Hotels Combined.

In-app payment

More time-saving comes from Lodgeo’s in-app payment function that removes any need for consumers to drop onto third-party apps or mobile sites where further registration is likely required before making a reservation.

Multiple credit cards can be scanned or manually entered into the Lodgeo app, while there is also a loyalty scheme that allows consumer to earn money by referring friends, family or colleagues to the app.

By searching the likes of booking.com, expedia.com and their ilk, the app can potentially scour over 800,000 unique properties across the world with support for a number of languages and currencies.

The company was founded by Ines Djelassi, who previously set up Hotel Solution Direct (HSD) in 2001. His project went on to become one of the largest independent aggregators in Europe.

In-app hotel comparison

Djelassi wants to give consumers the option to not go through the tedious task of checking a long list of comparison sites for the best price, while doing so through a smartphone application.

“Today’s consumer is savvy and shops multiple sites to get the best deal. However this antiquated process means the consumer is visiting an average of six sites before being able to book,” Djelassi explained.

“We built Lodgeo for users that would rather have all options in just one place. The app guarantees that the traveller isn’t missing any of the best and most suitable deals available, just because they are choosing to adopt one hotel booking app.”

The board at Lodgeo consists of booking.com co-founder Marin Muyser and several other travel industry experts.
