Name:

Paul Wright

Job title and company:

Managing Director, Europe at CAKE.

In one sentence, how would you describe what the company does?

CAKE provides a SaaS-based technology marketing solution for advertisers and publishers to track and manage their digital spend across multiple channels, in real-time.

What are the company’s unique selling points?

By providing one solution for tracking, attribution and reporting of digital performance data, CAKE offers everything needed for a complete view of the digital customer journey, from acquisition to conversion. CAKE’s multi-channel, enterprise suite makes it easy for marketers to collect vast volumes of rich click-forward data, like conversion information, landing page data, and impression traffic for display campaigns.

Within the last six months/year, what stands out as the company’s major milestones?

Our European operations are really going through a successful and accelerated growth period right now.  Operationally we’re building out the team with a strong focus on industry experience, technical skills and language support. We are aggressively hiring to ensure that we are ready to support the next phase of growth.

Huge developments in CAKE’s technology have seen advances in our core network, lead generation and mobile products along with the recent launch of our next-generation ecommerce platform.  Being shortlisted for PMA’s “Global Excellence in Performance Marketing” award is also an early sign that the wider industry has recognised the advances we’re making.

Duration in current role:

 1 year, 7 months.

Where are you based?

London with frequent trips to Europe and our U.S. offices in California.

Previous performance marketing-related companies you have worked at:

I’ve always worked in performance and have around 16 years under my belt. I like to think that my roles across network, client, publisher, agency and technology have provided a solid foundation and understanding for the success measures and desires each party brings to the table.  Most will know me from my time at Media Agency MEC (WPP) and Pan European Network TradeDoubler.

What are your main job responsibilities?

My focus is on leading CAKE’s European operation and helping our team deliver value for our clients. With CAKE’s impressive growth it’s key to recruit, hire and retain the very best talent for our UK office. I’m committed to this goal and will also continue to develop and roll out the company’s European expansion plans and ongoing business strategy, executing short and long-term objectives established by the executive board. Core to this strategy is client retention and satisfaction, new business development, as well as overall profit and loss responsibility.

Take us through what you get up to on a typical working Monday:

Monday is no different to any other day of the week to be honest.  We’re moving fast and we all need to be as agile in our working practices as possible.  Any day could involve major new business meetings, external representation at industry events, on-going talent acquisition and finally regular operational business meetings.
