Affiliate links provider VigLink has raised $18 million in Series C financing, which the company says will be used on international expansion.
RRE Ventures led this round of funding, with assistance from Correlation Ventures and Silicon Valley Bank. Eric Wiesen, a General Partner with RRE Ventures, will be joining the VigLink board of directors as part of the investment package.
Wiesen believes there is a ‘massive opportunity’ in VigLink, as publishers turn reader intent into what could be potential sales for advertisers and merchants further down the purchase path.
Click sales
VigLink helps facilitate native advertising in publishers’ content using VigLink Exchange, a platform where site-to-site clicks are priced, bought and sold. The tech routes clicks from existing links and mentions of products to the highest yielding advertiser.
Oliver Roup, founder and CEO of VigLink, referred to links as ‘the original native ad’ and wants publishers to capitalise on the traffic their site is driving by adding a monetisation elements.
“VigLink has focused on enabling content creators to capture the value of the influence they drive through media such as blogs, editorial, enthusiast communities and social platforms,” he commented.
