In this edition we head to Berlin, to speak with the CEO of Spree7.

In one sentence, how would you describe what the company does?

We offer a service for agencies, publishers, ad networks and advertisers to empower them doing successful programmatic advertising for display, mobile, video and social marketing.

What are the company’s unique selling points? 

Spree7 – your transparent trading desk. The Spree7 service offer includes the development of a programmatic strategy, including inventory planning, targeting/data usage, campaign structure, optimization goals, tagging strategy, as well as creative and conversion flow consulting.

Furthermore we are a fulfilment service – our analyst team manages campaigns on behalf of our clients.

We work fully transparent with our clients. They have full access to the campaigns and benefit from our know-how and experience in realtime advertising.

The mid- to long-term goal is to enable our customers to manage their campaigns on their own with Spree7 acting only as a consultant and support service.

Our mission is to be on top of each development in the realtime advertising space and offer the optimal solutions for each advertiser’s needs.

The biggest accomplishments in the last 6 months:

More than double up the team size to 20 and our client base and significantly improving our service level, workflows and processes at the same time.

Developing a product catalogue for programmatic advertising which includes solutions to most advertisers’ needs.

Delivered programmatic campaigns in more than 40 countries.

How long have you been in your current role?

I joined Spree7 exactly one year ago, I am in my current role since 9 months.

Where are you based?

Berlin, Mitte, Germany.

What previous performance marketing-related companies have you worked at?

I worked for Affinitas GmbH, with their online dating brand eDarling and Jesta Digital, with their brands Jamba and Jamster.

What are your main job responsibilities?

My main responsibility is communicating, problem solving, developing and keeping the team happy and developing Spree7 as a company. The areas of responsibility are sales, product management and finance.

Take us through what you get up to on a typical working Monday:

Monday is full of meetings:  jour fixe and campaign performance review with the analyst team, planning the week activities in the morning, finance sync meeting, sales meeting and client activity review with our consultant team.

What top three websites can you be found browsing during your lunch hour?

Linkedin/Xing – checking updates, great articles.

Facebook – stalking friends and checking new photos.

What are your top three tips for someone looking to get their hands on a job like yours?

  • Know your stuff in detail.
  • Ask questions, work hard and constantly improve.
  • Do not be afraid of taking responsibility.

Career-wise, where do you see yourself in three years time?

Highly probable at Spree7. Definitely doing marketing. I love to connect the numbers only marketing automation view with the “real” marketing view, where creating a desire for certain products and making people amazed about it by using visuals is the focus.

I played accordion in the age of 10-13.
