UK coupon code site vouchercloud has ventured into the US – and will head into the Canadian market next month.

The Bristol-based savings platform, whose parent company Invitation Digital Limited is majority owned by mobile giant Vodafone, has launched US site  – www.vouchercloud.net (the UK site scooped the .com).

The decision to embrace the flourishing US voucher code scene was made earlier this year and the site officially launched in May. Vouchercloud bosses also felt there was a particular niche for British-specific products to feature on the site.

The news coincides with American digital coupon giant RetailMeNot’s decision to register for an initial public offering for up to $230 million – suggesting competition is set to increase for coupon supremacy?

Shaking Things Up

Global sales director at vouchercloud, Matthew Wood, said: “We’ll continue to work with well-respected international brands alongside a few quirky, quintessentially British brands.

“We’re all about delivering quality to both our merchants and our users so integrity is incredibly important to us. We hope also to work with some slightly unusual and different’ brands; just to shake things up a bit.”

To coincide with the US debut, the 2010-founded company has also launched ‘The Brits are Coming’ giveaway; offering hundreds of dollars worth of prizes from three top brands.

Not only will the new site feature well-known brands from the UK site, but it is also in talks with other UK companies about featuring exclusive goods on the US site only.

The company, which has a presence in Ireland, France, Italy, Poland, Malta, Germany and the Netherlands, also plans to launch into Canada at the end of July. Despite the launch of the US site, a physical office in the US is not planned as yet.
