Could you give us a brief overview of the Macdonald Hotels affiliate programme?

Of course! There are 45 Macdonald Hotels across Scotland and England, each one with its own personality and an impressive 4/5 star rating.

The Macdonald Hotels affiliate programme is run by Jennifer Rogerson and Matthew Scott at Equator. Affiliates are rewarded with 5-6% commission on bookings, and benefit from dedicated affiliate managers who are on hand to handle queries, offer support and provide resources.

What is the commission structure?

We have a very competitive commission structure in place whereby our affiliates are incentivised to drive more bookings in order to receive a commission increase. Affiliates generating > £3,000 are rewarded with 5% commission, and those who reach £6,000 will receive 5.5%. Those who generate more than £6,000 revenue in any given month will receive a generous 6% commission.

What sets the Macdonald Hotels affiliate programme apart from its competitors?

Macdonald Hotels’ beautiful site uses responsive design to enable multiple device-optimised layouts. We’re proud to assure affiliates that bookings completed via mobiles or tablets will track just as they would via a desktop or laptop. With many affiliates reporting that they’re losing out on commission because other merchants’ mobile sites lack affiliate tracking, we believe that this is a significant step.

Plus, our programme is one of just a handful of Affiliate Window programmes that has stay date tracking. This means our affiliates have visibility of when the bookings they have worked hard to generate will take place, and therefore when they’ll receive their commission.

What resources are available to Macdonald Hotels affiliates?

We have a static product feed, a searchable booking banner and a broad range of animated banners for affiliates to choose from. We update our creative resources regularly – for example, affiliates can now find our Autumn suite via Affiliate Window. There is also a text link available for each and every hotel, making it quick and easy for affiliates to begin deep linking to our hotel pages.

Are there any exciting developments coming up for Macdonald Hotels?

Absolutely! We’re in the process of implementing commission group tracking, which will mean that we can pay special rates of commission at a hotel level. This will be hugely beneficial to affiliates that rank well for terms such as “hotel + location”.

We’re also excited to be planning an affiliate event that will reward and thank our partners for their hard work on the programme.
