Rakuten Marketing Europe is looking for a talented Senior Publisher Manager to lead our publisher growth strategy in Germany. Working alongside our local Senior Managers (UK and France) the Snr Publisher Manager will be responsible for the day to day recruitment, and optimisation of our German network. Under the direction of the VP of Supply & Partnerships, the SPM will have ultimate responsibility for executing on the strategy and day-to-day management our publisher network, enhancing processes and driving revenue growth through new and optimized strategic partnerships and maintaining the highest level of partner satisfaction with the Rakuten Affiliate Network.


They will know their publisher’s business model inside out and they will proactively develop and manage our publisher strategy for Germany and possibly other growing markets. In addition to monitoring and communication key developments and trends in the German market to both internal and external stakeholders.


Roles & responsibilities


Key Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the affiliate recruitment and optimization strategy across key Advertiser Programmes
  • Plan and meet with key strategic partnership & affiliates within the German Market
  • Regularly monitor the performance of all affiliates across the network and present this in weekly and quarterly meetings and reviews (internal and external)
  • Look at new, creative and innovative ways to use RM suite of products for publisher optimisation. Includes content, imagery, product feeds, influencer, attribution etc. to
  • Be able to understand performance data of affiliates and make decisions accordingly 
  • Work closely with the Advertiser team to understand current objectives, performance, key products etc. and be able to adapt the affiliate strategy accordingly    
  • Manage the quality of traffic and sales being driven across the affiliate base, flagging and dealing with any issues
  • Work with the wider Rakuten Marketing Publisher team to spot new opportunities from affiliates across global publisher group 
  • Ensure best practices and client (advertiser & publisher) service excellence standards are upheld in market, according to Rakuten Marketing core values

Publisher management

  • Focus on Top Tier publishers to achieve a Yearly revenue target.
  • Formulate and present publisher presentations
  • Attend client account reviews with the Account Management team
  • Resolve publisher queries in a timely and professional manner
  • Represent Rakuten Affiliate Network at tradeshows and events
  • Run reports to analyse trends, traffic, clicks, transactions, conversions etc.


  • Work closely with Client Services to identify partnership opportunities to grow our business
  • Working closely with Analytics’ team to help interpret data and build more effective strategies
  • Plan communication activities alongside Marketing team
  • Work with other channel counterparts to provide full Rakuten Marketing experience to clients
  • Work with US, AU and EU Publisher teams to systemise global processes and lead initiatives across territories
  • Developing, maintaining, and extending relationships internally and externally

Technical /functional expertise

  • At least 2-3 year online experience managing publisher services at an affiliate network, agency, client or consulting house, with a proven track record of over achieving a revenue targets
  • Preferably BA degree in a Marketing field
  • Competent in Microsoft Office programmes – particularly Excel (intermediate) and PowerPoint
  • Experience in strong client relationships, reinforced by building trust, advising and upselling
  • Web literate (tracking analytics and methods)
  • Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and publisher business models with focus on building and reinforcing digital strategies
