US-based affiliate marketing event producer Affiliate Summit has been acquired by Clarion Events, host of the world’s largest gaming technology exhibition.

The announcement was made on Affiliate Summit’s blog today (July 27), with co-founder Shawn Collins stating that the two companies had been in talks since the start of the year, “and everything fell into place just before we kick off Affiliate Summit East 2017”, which arrives on July 30 in New York.

Collins will maintain his position alongside co-founder Missy Ward as “co-CEOs” of the affiliate summit conference he has stated but adds that the merger could see Affiliate Summit adding to its annual East (ASE) and West (ASW) US conferences, and potentially expand internationally.

“This is something we’ve wanted to do for many years, but we didn’t have the resources and know-how to expand globally,” said Collins, urging affiliate marketers to “look out for announcements soon.”

Aside from the gaming sector, which particularly in the US has a significant concern in affiliate marketing, Clarion also claims a presence within the retail & home, energy & resources and technology sectors.

Headquartered in the UK, the company boasts eight additional international offices, in markets including UAE, Brazil, South Africa and Netherlands.
