Looking back over a busy 28 days, the overriding theme seems to be that of expansion. But we open the February edition of movers and shakers with a departure from the zanox boardroom.

Michael von Stern joined the zanox executive board to fill the role of both CFO and COO in January last year to support the company’s merger with Digital Window. He now departs the group and returns, as planned, to a new position at Axel Springer.

Ex-IAB affiliate marketing council chairman Matt Bailey has stepped down from his post as head of product at Performance Horizon Group, taking the title of commercial director at R.O.EYE to manage the agency’s corporate customer base.

Pay for display

Ensighten announced the hiring of former Anametrix CEO Pelin Thorogood, naming her as the omni-channel data platform’s chief strategy officer. Thorogood will continue to head up Anametrix in a transitional role.

Programmatic marketing software provider DataXu undertook a considerable reshuffle with a trio of internal hires. Jan Heumueller moves from vice president of sales in Europe to succeed Sacha Berlik as general manager of the region. The former will focus on expanding DataXu’s efforts across the European market

The company’s ex-director of sales for the UK, Chris Le May, stepped into the position of country manager, UK & Nordics. This came as Martin Brown assumed the title of vice president of sales, US East from his previous post as DataXu’s vice president of UK & Nordics.

Moving out of his account director role at Tradedoubler’s UK office, David Ayre accepts the position of performance director at Admedo, responsible for launching programmatic display through the company’s new performance channels.

EMEA hires

Alan Banks has taken the reins as managing director for EMEA at engagement marketing software group Marketo. Moving across from his current role as executive vice president at fellow customer engagement software provider LivePerson, Banks will succeed the current EMEA MD for Marketo, Fergus Gloster, who is planning to retire following a brief period of transition.

Cross-channel marketing company Signal has taken on Neil Joyce as senior vice president & managing director, EMEA. Joyce arrives from a similar role at BrightEdge in Sydney, managing its AU/NZ offerings.

Performance optimisation company Maxifer has appointed Roy Beeharry as European sales director. Joining from mobile video advertising exchange Vdopia, his key focus will be on growing the business in the UK and mainland Europe.

Social listening platform Brandwatch took on a new PR manager for EMEA, Shahlia Nelson-Rogers, who joins from a freelance position at SNR Communications.  

Search sells

Search ad company HookLogic appointed Paul Dahill as vice president of media sales in Europe, taking on a newly created role to support the team’s expansion across the region. Dahill joins with 15 years’ digital advertising experience in senior roles at AudienceScience, Amazon and AdLink.

Searchmetrics announced the appointment of Roy Satterthwaite as senior vice president of sales for the Americas. Satterthwaite joins from Turn Inc, and has held senior management positions at SAP and Opera Software.

Further expansion

Real-time TV ad-tracking specialist wywy demonstrated sincerity in its North American operations with the appointments of Jeff Lunder and Carissa Parrish as sales managers in the company’s New York office. Lunder and Parrish will be responsible for developing new partnerships and strengthening existing relationships with US brands.

As part of its ongoing programme of international expansion and reorganisation, OMG appointed Stephen Rumbelow as group strategy director, having left his former role as commercial director within the performance marketing company

Berlin-based Meetrics has taken on The Financial TimesSteven Canfield to drive sales of the company’s ad viewability solutions to agencies and publishers. This extension of the UK sales team comes on the back of a recent seven-figure financing round to support international expansion.

Finally, PI columnist and former group head of digital/ecommerce at EWM Group Richie Jones joined surf company Saltrock in a mirroring role as head of digital/ecommerce.
