Alan Banks has taken the reins as managing director for EMEA at engagement marketing software group Marketo.

Moving across from his current role as executive vice president at fellow customer engagement software provider LivePerson, Banks will succeed the current EMEA MD for Marketo, Fergus Gloster, who is planning to retire following a brief period of transition.

A former employee of Adobe Systems, Hewlett-Packard and CA Technologies among others, Banks said he was looking forward to the challenge ahead.

“It’s an honour to assume responsibility for the Marketo EMEA team which Fergus Gloster has built,” he commented.

“I am committed to continuing and building on his successes, as we expand operations throughout the region and solidify our position as the leading engagement marketing platform.”

Engaging customers

Marketo’s primary solution – the Engagement Marketing Platform – enables companies to tackle the prize of customer engagement across an array of different channels.

Offering solutions for campaign creation and deployment, the company’s existing product arsenal allows for the tailoring, distribution and monitoring of messages across social, mobile and even offline marketing.

Banks will lead the company’s development across a number of key regions from Marketo’s office in London. The California-based firm is looking to build on its initial growth across EMEA, and Steve Winter, Marketo’s executive vice president of worldwide sales and operations, considers Banks to be a perfect fit.

“As we continue our investment and growth in EMEA, we are delighted to welcome Alan to the Marketo team.”

“His impressive track record and extensive experience leading high-performing sales organisations will help us continue the strong momentum we are experiencing internationally.”

Marketo’s European presence also includes bases in Dublin, Staines and Tel Aviv, while offices in Australia and Japan help cater for just over 3,750 clients from a range of demographics.
