Our ‘Profile: A Day in the Life of’ feature takes a look at some of the global professionals working across performance marketing. It aims to shed light on the varying roles and companies across the flourishing industry.

In this edition we head over to London, to speak with the European Director of a marketing agency.

Name:

Kenny Howell

Job title and company:

Director of Neverblue Europe

In one sentence, how would you describe what the company does?

Neverblue is a trusted performance marketing company that connects advertisers with their target audience.

What are the company’s unique selling points?

Neverblue provides our advertisers brand protection through targeted global reach, strict compliance and quality assurance standards. We also provide full marketing solutions through search, display, social, email and mobile.
For our publishers, we have a timely and dependable payment schedule, global inventory and provide you with real-time reporting.

Within the last six months/year, what stands out as the company’s major milestones?

Throughout 2014 Neverblue is celebrating its ten year anniversary as a leading global performance ad network that has become known for quality, accountability, reach, and great people. It’s a huge accomplishment that we are very proud of. We started out as a small Canadian company and have grown to offices in Victoria, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and London.
Neverblue Europe is also expanding rapidly both in business and in staff. As a result, we’re moving to a larger office in the next few months to accommodate the growth, which is very exciting.

Duration in current role:

I’ve been with Neverblue for over four years in their Canadian office. Three months ago, the opportunity arose for me to lead the London office as their new director. I’m from England originally, so when the chance to come home and step into an incredible, yet challenging role was offered, I couldn’t resist!

Where are you based?

Our Neverblue Europe operations are based in London, England.

Previous performance marketing-related Co’s you have worked at:

Before my time at Neverblue I worked at Get Marketed Now, known as SEM Consultants. It was great experience that really helped prepare me for my roles at Neverblue.

What are your main job responsibilities?

Neverblue is an established and trusted name in North America. My main responsibility and personal goal is to get that same market share here in Europe.

Take us through what you get up to on a typical working Monday:

Every Monday, I start off the day with a weekly team meeting to review the week prior and to discuss goals for the week ahead. Monday is also a great day to brainstorm new ideas on what we can do to be more successful.

What top three websites can you be found browsing during your lunch hour?

On my free time, I usually peruse LinkedIn, Facebook, and wba.co.uk.

What are your top three tips for someone looking to get their hands on a job like yours?

  • Treat everyone you come across equally, no matter what the position they hold. Each member of a team plays an integral part in the success of a company.
  • Take the time to learn your client’s businesses and their goals. It’s a lot easier to exceed their expectations when you can anticipate their needs before they do.
  • Be flexible. The performance marketing industry is always changing and if you can adapt and work with new trends, you’ll find success in your role and within your company.

Career-wise, where do you see yourself in three years’ time?

In three years, I hope to have made Neverblue a household name in the performance marketing space in Europe.

Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you?

I was signed by two professional football teams in my teens; Aston Villa and West Brom.
