US-founded programmatic video advertising platform, BrightRoll, has appointed a former Facebook executive.

Beth Steinberg, who is a strong advocate for philanthropy and empowering women through technology, will take on the newly-created role of ‘vice president of people’, tasked with leading BrightRoll’s talent acquisition.

Steinberg, who specialises in implementing programmes that foster employee growth and professional development, will have a specific focus on training emerging leaders, managers and executives to scale the company.

This is the company’s second big hire in recent weeks, after former Mail Online guru, Andy Mitchell, was taken on as managing director of European operations.

Dynamic growth

BrightRoll CEO, Tod Sacerdoti, said over the last two years the company has doubled its workforce and Steinberg will play an essential role in organisational development and employee engagement, while expanding the team to drive the company forward.

“BrightRoll is experiencing dynamic growth, and our leadership position in the market enables us to recruit top talent that is driving technology advancements for the future of digital video advertising,” Sacerdoti said

“Beth’s leadership and expertise are a great addition to the company and her invaluable insights will help further our position in the market.”

Nike, EA & more

Steinberg, who was Facebook’s first vice president of human resources (HR), has nearly 20 years of HR experience, having held leadership positions at both emerging and Fortune 500 companies.

Prior to joining BrightRoll, Steinberg was vice president of talent and organisational development at Sunrun. She has also held leadership roles at Electronic Arts, Nike and Nordstrom, is an advisor to Puppet Labs and Jhana Education, and is on the board of directors of Social Venture Partners International.

Steinberg is also an active participant of TechWomen.org, a mentorship and exchange programme that brings together emerging women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) from Africa and the Middle East with their professional counterparts in the US.

“BrightRoll has a talented group of employees that have led the company to develop key innovations for the digital video ad ecosystem,” Steinberg said.

“I look forward to further cultivating the amazing company culture that BrightRoll embodies and introducing new programmes that continue to advance the company’s position as a technology leader.”

BrightWomen

BrightRoll has implemented an employee initiative called BrightWomen, which seeks to encourage leadership and empowerment for women at the company by facilitating discussions and sharing resources about career development, business, leadership and wellness.

Beth has now taken this internal initiative to the next level, spearheading external events to help strengthen female leadership throughout the technology sector.

BrightRoll will hold the first annual BrightWomen Week, a week-long celebration of women in technology, from Monday April 28 through Friday, May 2.
