US-founded affiliate marketing agency, AffiliateTraction, will open its first Australian office in May.

PerformanceIN has learnt that the business, which is headed up by CEO Greg Shepard, has recruited a new MD for a Sydney-based office.

Shepard said Australia is a growing market for performance-based programmes as it naturally follows through from the UK and US, and that 2014 is the ‘right time to take successful stories into the Australian market’.

“Australia has shown a 200% growth in e-commerce sites between 2010-2013 and is expected to grown exponentially in 2014,” Shepard said.

AffiliateTraction, which also has offices in Santa Cruz in the US;  London’s Covent Garden and Ontario in Canada, will join the likes of dgm AustraliaRakuten LinkShare, Commission Factory and AvantLink, among many other performance marketing and affiliate related companies down under.

While not giving away too much information away on the new Sydney MD, US-based Shepard said the MD has almost 10 years experience in the digital marketing, SaaS, publishers and mobile world and has a track record of growing a niche business in an open market and converting it into a success.

Shepard said the plan is to rollout the same all-inclusive solutions it currently offers its other markets.

“The Australian market is a massive opportunity with a nice growth curve, although early our main objective is to set down roots, earn a brand and a reputation as a foundation for acquiring strong market share,” Shepard begins.

“Utilising our global market reach we will bring publishers, networks and merchants to the market, while strengthening our partnership with those we work with globally as well as earning major Australian brands.”

Shepard said the business is currently working on an international approach to 19 countries across Europe, China, Japan and South America.
