In one sentence, how would you describe what the company does?

We help merchant accept payments online.

What are the company’s unique selling points?

BlueSnap wants to make sure that your company can accept payment anywhere, in any currency. Our job is to figure out the banking rules and monitor changes, so that attempted purchases are globally successful. We manage the intricacies of payments too, including loyalty programmes, applying coupon codes, and subscriptions.

Within the last six months/year, what stands out as the company’s major milestones?

Our biggest accomplishment of the last six months is having our sales increase by 40%. We’ve also expanded our new office in Silicon Valley and Boston. We’ve rebuilt our team by hiring the best to make sure that we stay at the forefront of payment processing.

Another major accomplishment has been launching into the growing gaming market, enabling easy payments within games. In addition, we’ve started servicing developers. We can offer a lot of tools to developers, and growing that area of our service has been an important focus of the last six months.

What are your main job responsibilities?

As CEO, I do a little bit of everything. I make the tough decisions about which directions our solution for payment processing should proceed. But, my main responsibility is to make sure that my team is communicating. Being a CEO is all about vision and team building.

Take us through what you get up to on a typical working Monday:

I have no set Monday routine. Any given Monday could include a major sales meeting, a management meeting, or traveling around the globe to learn more about our clients.

CNBC, Yahoo and PYMNTS.com

What are your top three tips for someone looking to get their hands on a job like yours?

  • Work hard and be passionate about what you do
  • Learn not to be afraid and to take some chances
  • Identify a space that is hot and growing

Career-wise, where do you see yourself in three years time?

Same job, and I’d like nothing more than to see BlueSnap grow into the company I know it has the capacity to be.

Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you?

I actually enjoy not being the smartest guy in the room. I need people to challenge me – although my employees know that about me now.
