11 new brands contribute to triple-digit growth for retargeting business

London, UK — November 12, 2013 —

Today Rakuten Marketing reveals that the retargeting arm of its business, Rakuten MediaForge, has seen triple-digit growth in brands’ General Merchandise Sales in the UK from Q2 to Q3 this year. This growth in online sales over three months is due to the 11 new brands that Rakuten MediaForge has partnered with since July, and the significant increase in sales they have experienced.

The CPA network continues to drive sales for fashion and cosmetics brands and existing clients with affiliate programmes are investing in retargeting within the network too. Over the past three months, fashion brands MiH Jeans and Timberland, and cosmetics brands Gorgeous Shop and The Body Shop have all kicked off a retargeting programme to run alongside their affiliate programme.

The network is also diversifying its portfolio with children’s retailer Great Little Trading Company and dating site Doing Something joining the network as new Rakuten MediaForge clients in Q3.

Rakuten Marketing began offering retargeting services through Rakuten MediaForge in the UK a year ago, following the acquisition of the Utah based leader in display and retargeting. The company is enjoying fast growth and has revealed that 7% of their existing UK CPA clients are now running their retargeting programmes through the network too.

The retargeting arm of the business will look to emulate the success of the affiliate CPA service, Rakuten LinkShare, which has also reported a strong quarter of growth with UK year-on-year growth of 34% and US growth of 22% over the third quarter of the year.

Rakhee Jogia, Director of Retargeting Services at Rakuten MediaForge: “Brands come to us for support in building a bespoke content strategy, tailored to their consumer’s browsing and purchasing behaviour. We use our data and expertise to compile the perfect mix of affiliate, display and retargeting services. It’s this multi-channel approach which ensures shoppers are being served relevant and engaging content, leading them to purchase.”

Mark Haviland, MD of Rakuten Marketing commented: “Having one network manage several digital marketing channels presents a huge benefit for brands and advertisers. Strategies can be aligned and stronger relationships with publishers can be built, which is reflected in the significant uptake of our integrated CPA programmes. We expect that Rakuten MediaForge will continue to grow as it represents a vital piece of the cross-digital marketing mix.”
