Leading charity shopping site easyfundraising.org.uk has announced the purchase of rival site spendandraise.com.

In a move set to further secure easyfundraising’s position as the number one fundraising cashback site in the UK, the addition of the Spend and Raise brand to the portfolio will enable Spend and Raise users to raise even more with an additional 1,600 retailers, as well as take advantage of toolbar technology and extensive marketing support to boost their fundraising totals.

Formerly owned by Affiliate Window, Spend and Raise was established over 10 years ago as buy.at webshops, changing its name in 2011. Supporting over 10,000 good causes across the UK, the site has raised over £1m for charity to date.

Managing Director of easyfundraising.org.uk Gary Thompson said: “Having worked closely with former owners Affiliate Window for many years, we were thrilled to be given the opportunity to purchase Spend and Raise. This acquisition means we can further our goal of getting the whole of Britain fundraising! Now more than ever, charities and good causes are facing tough times and our fundraising model is proving to be an invaluable fundraising resource for many.”

Adam Ross, Chief Operating Officer for Affiliate Window said: “Helping organisations fundraise through affiliate marketing has been an important part of our business for many years, but as soon as the brilliant team at easyfundraising expressed an interest in acquiring Spend and Raise, we knew they were best placed to drive things forward. It was incredibly important to us that Spend & Raise went to a good home and the organisations relying on it would be given the best possible opportunity to grow and develop. We are certain easyfundraising will provide this, and are looking forward to seeing them flourish.”

This announcement comes as easyfundraising.org.uk predicts it will top £6m in donations by the end of 2013. Forecasting a bumper Christmas for it’s causes, Gary Thompson went on to add, ‘We are totally committed to helping good causes across the UK raise as much as they can through online shopping. We’ve developed leading technologies and tools to help our causes maximise their fundraising efforts and it’s very exciting that Spend an Raise causes can now be part of that.’
