Google Affiliate Network now allows UK Blogger users to insert an affiliate advert into a post. It means they can earn commission when the link is clicked and a purchase is made on the advertiser’s website. The new functionality is available in the UK after a similar rollout in the USA earlier this year.
Product Manager at Google Affiliate Network, Ali Pasha, admitted it all used to be too long-winded. “Prior to this integration, Bloggers would have to login to an affiliate network, go through a separate sign-up process, and then come back to their blog to complete their post,” he revealed. “This was just too hard to do on a regular basis.”
UK advertisers on the up
Google has said that more UK-specific advertisers are signing up every day. The likes Bestbathrooms.com, Cheapsuites.co.uk, Crooked Tongues, Diamond Manufacturers, eFlorist, Hudsonreed.com, Perfume Click and The Snugg are all currently available on the affiliate network.
Pasha feels strongly about the opportunity the new functionality offers. “We think that there's a huge opportunity in the affiliate channel for optimisations like these” he said. “These are the type of innovations that will only grow the channel and help with the incremental distribution that advertisers desire."
