Rakuten Linkshare has announced the launch of what it says is the industry’s first comprehensive testing and certification programme for affiliate marketing managers by any major affiliate network. The network’s aim is to ensure advertisers do the best job possible in today’s digital world by giving them the educational grounding to succeed.
Participants earning certification will be given access to tutorials, webinars and live event. The certification is only valid for one calendar year, so Rakuten Linkshare will be encouraging program managers to renew their certification annually if they want to stay ahead in the ever-evolving online landscape.
Janelle Clymer, affiliate marketing manager for Go Daddy, a Linkshare advertiser since 2010, feels there are only benefits to such an educational programme. “It will drive a higher overall understanding of the channel and it will help program managers validate and promote their own knowledge and expertise,” she said.
Topics likely to be covered in testing will include basic affiliate marketing knowledge, best practices, strategies for maximising sales and knowledge specific to the Rakuten Linkshare network. Once they’ve gained certification, affiliate managers will receive a badge graphic to adorn websites and marketing materials with.
The programme is only available to affiliate program managers in the Rakuten Linkshare network and is being rolled out in the USA and Canada, but there are plans to launch in the UK and Japan later this year.
