Mobile overtakes printed voucher redemption for first time

Redemptions through VoucherCodes.co.uk’s iPhone app have overtaken the more traditional printable types. Offline redemptions using the app have grown to 52% from just 20% in October last year.

Mobile overtakes printable vouchers

VoucherCodes.co.uk’s report went on to reveal that mobile traffic to its website has risen by an astonishing 194%. Mobile now accounts for a quarter of the site’s 5.5million monthly users having risen from a 9% share in the second quarter of last year.

Apple leads rivals

Apple’s still dominating its rivals on VoucherCodes.co.uk usage. Access through Cupertino’s hardware makes up 80% of mobile traffic on the website. Samsung, having recently overtaken Nokia as the largest mobile manufacturer in the world, was second with a 6% share and HTC’s 4% piece of the pie was third.

The findings are part of the voucher service’s Quarterly Voucher Usage Report, which offers a seasonal snapshot of the key trends currently driving voucher usage. Increasing numbers of merchants and shoppers embracing mobile technology are given as the reason for its rise in app redemptions.
