Coupobox sold to tagesangebote.de

Coupobox.com, the site established by former Groupon employee Stavros Prodromou, has been sold to tagesangebote.de. Coupobox’s website now redirects to DealCollector.co.uk, which is also managed by the German company.

In 2010 Prodromou formed Coupobox when the daily deal industry was beginning to take off. He set the aggregator up with two other co-founders after working as a senior consultant and general manager at Groupon. The aim was to capitalise on the rapid growth of what’s now a multi-billion pound industry.

Now, Coupobox provides daily deals from more than 35 cities across the UK. Users can filter thousands of available deals every day. There’s also the option for users to opt into an email newsletter that covers all their favourite deal sites.

GDDA focus

The founder and former CEO of Coupobox spoke of how he wants to focus on the Global Daily Deals Association, which he is also Founder and CEO of. ““Coupobox was a great project and has provided me with plenty of insight into the industry, which I can now channel into the GDDA,” he said.

The Global Daily Deals Association is a trade organisation for the daily deal industry. Its purpose is said to facilitate collaboration on industry initiatives and standardise working approaches. The association also coordinates conferences and networking events to share best practice such as DD Summit Europe.

Mathias Jacobs, CEO of DealCollector believes the Coupobox purchase can only improve tagesangebote.de’s standing in the daily deals industry. "Our acquisition of Coupobox will bolster the company’s position in the daily deal sector and enhance our strategic partnerships; it’s an exciting prospect for DealCollector," he asserted.
