The Hurlingham Club, London was the place to be on Tuesday as over 200 Publishers, Advertisers, Agencies and Networks gathered under one roof for the second in the PerformanceIN series, PerformanceIN Travel & Leisure. The success of the event is sure to herald a new era of prosperity for not just the affiliate travel sector, but the travel and leisure sector as a whole.
Paul Evans, Founder and Chairman of Low Cost Travel Group opened the event without ' A tablet, an iPhone or knowledge into how to use a spreadsheet'. Paul gave insight into how to build a successful business not specifically in travel, but focusing on the risks in leaving the safety of a corporate background and 'starting from scratch'. Paul offered first-hand advice on what to do and more importantly, what not to do including four key life lessons;
Be nice to people on the way up
Do not believe your own PR
Be careful who you trust
Build a good team
The hour-long opening session went on to discuss the highs and the lows of running a successful business, concluding with the importance of value for money and customer service.
For more insights into this fantastic key note keep an eye on a4u over the coming days.
Paul's keynote really set the tone for the day as 10 individual presentations and lively panel debates followed offering real learning's into adopting technologies, the hurdles of managing a travel programme and a very popular session, Drowning in Data from Graham Cooke of QuBit. Graham examined the common challenges with customer data online specifically looking at 10 reasons travel websites don't convert.
A4u reporter Simon Holland will be reporting on Graham's session this week.
Lunch time saw another treat at the Hurlingham Club following the success of PerformanceIN Fashion & Beauty's barbecued lobster last summer. Running parallel with lunch was the opportunity for delegates to gain one to one advice on CRO, Re-targeting and Travel SEO optimisation from key experts including Stephen Pavlovich and Richard Baxter.
Throughout the day delegates were given plenty of opportunities to peruse the Brand Showcase and chat to the fantastic brands and publishers involved including Intercontinental Hotels Group, Alamo & National Car Rental, Savoo plus many more.
The emphasis turned very much to networking in the afternoon with the familliar micro speed networking courtesy of Webgains, allowing key advertisers and publishers in the verticals the opportunity for some intensive networking in just two minutes.
Synomimous with a4u events, PerformanceIN Travel & Leisure concluded with a networking reception hosted by Neverblue Travel Affiliate Network where delegates earned a large drink after what was a very intensive day.
Over the forthcoming coming days a4u will be providing highlights, news stories and more on the Performance Marketing Travel Report in association with Commission Junction.
