Joshna Patel talks winning awards
To be nominated for an award for your business prowess by your peer, client or employer is possibly one of the highest accolades you can receive… second only to beating off the other contenders to be crowned the winner! And all of this at only 30 years of age or under.
This is what Joshna Patel, Marketing Manager at Red Letter Days achieved earlier this year when she was announced as the A4U Hotshot of the year 2011 at the a4uAwards – now known as the Performance Marketing Awards
A4U wanted to establish first-hand how it feels to be the very first industry hotshot, and how it has affected Joshna as an individual and Red Letter Days nearly 12 months on.
How did you enjoy the evening, were there any particular highlights (besides picking up your award)?
I had a great evening at the awards. Of course the main highlight was winning the award but it was also great to see so many familiar faces in one room – it’s not often you get everyone together from the industry so it’s always good to know that we can all get together.
As the inaugural winner of the Hotshot award, how did it feel to win the award among such a discerning audience?
Honestly it was a shock to win the award, I was in a category with so many talented individuals that no-one could have predicted the winner. It was also quite daunting yet exciting to win and celebrate with everyone in the industry.
The award was for 'making an impact' within the industry. Why do you think you won the award earlier this year?
I think I won the award earlier this year because I actively engage within the industry and am continuously promoting the performance marketing sector in other areas as and when I can. I also believe that the impact that I have made with Red Letter Days has helped to further highlight some of my achievements.
7 months have passed since the awards ceremony, how has winning one of our awards aided you on a day-to-day basis?
Winning an award has helped me on a day-to-day basis to further promote and show the importance of performance marketing within my organisation. It has also helped with my personal growth.
What new factors within the Performance Marketing space do you think are keeping you on your toes?
There are quite a few different things that come to mind – mobile marketing has been something that we have been looking at, as well as how the industry will comply with the EU Privacy Directive which has been discussed at IAB meetings as well as within our organisation.
What's next for you?

If you are an Agency, Network, Publisher or Advertiser the Hotshot award is the perfect opportunity to showcase a key member of your team.

Remember they must be 30 years of age or under.
