I use this plugin to handle all my 301 redirects in wordpress:
WordPress › Simple 301 Redirects
My old blogging platform recently shut down and Ive had to move all of my content to a new host and server. As such I've decided to go with wordpress and kept the same url as before.
The problem is Google is still showing results for the old blog which open up a 404 page in the new one, so I've been informed that I should setup a 301 redirect to put this right.
Is there a wordpress plugin that makes this an easy process, any advice is a welcome?
Do you mean how do you install it?
If so go into your Wordpress dashboard, go Plugins > Add New. Then type in a keyword search for the plugin name.
Follow the instructions to install the plugin. It should be pretty easy depending on how your hosting is set up.
Let me know if you have any problems.
You can also try to manually add the .htaccess 301 redirect rule.
