    Cashback/incentive sites

Just wondering what people think about running lead generation/ donor recruitment campaigns using cashback/incentive sites. I know people who've done this and had bad results full of fake phone numbers or donors that don't stay beyond a couple of months.

    What's been your experience?

    Hi Shimrit,

I'd approach with caution. If you're willing to invest the time and energy to monitor your leads constantly and set your CPA at a level that reflects the average quality of the lead being sent by that affiliate then you may find a place for them.

It's worth asking any sites you're looking to partner with who are incentivising traffic to add caveats about what you consider to be a valid lead in the programme text.

If you want an idea of how parts of the cashback community use cashback check out the forums on Money Saving Expert, it's full of members exchanging information about where to get 'free' money from cashback and other sites.

    Good luck!

    Thanks, Kevin.

This was my impression as well. I'd have thought that people who search high and low for cashback incentives are not likely to be the sort who'd have a lot of money lying round to spend on giving regularly to a charity.

Little old ladies would save up coupons and vouchers to buy a kettle but spend hundreds of pounds on good causes, but I think there's a shortage of those online

    Hi Shimrit,

I'd agree with Kevin that if you wanted to go down this route then you would need to be comfortable that you could monitor the quality of traffic coming through. However, I think this is not limited to cash back sites, this is something that you should be doing across your entire affiliate network.

I think the difficulty in using cash back sites for charity campaigns is that something doesn't feel quite right about it. As a customer donating to charity I think most would be uncomfortable with receiving cash back for that donation.

Like i said in my first post in this forum this sector is far more sensitive than other sectors in the affiliate channel and you need to think very carefully about how your customers interact with your brand and how this may be perceived.

    Thanks
