SEO Ranking question - dropped but still there!?

Hi All

I recently ranked a site in google, probably about 6 weeks ago. It ranked well for its main keywords for about 2 weeks and then disappeared without trace for the same keywords. I use SEO rank daily to track it and still nothing.

If I do 'site:example.com' it is indexed by google but just doesn't appear for any of my keywords. Can I be in their index but blacklisted somehow?

I made a couple of backlinks from my other sites but of what I'd say high quality links, relevant etc.

Anyone else seen this and what should I do? Wait for another month? Change the content? Cry

To give you a quick explanation:

- it happens based in several factors, backlinks, site-redisign, some competitor sending a spam complain...yadda yadda yadda.

- Quick solution: get a backlink from a high PR site and do some social bookmarking, my advice will be prweb.com or uk.prweb.com (for uk sites), if you need help writing the press release I can help you, but remember it cost money to send a PR to prweb, like £110 and you have to do it right... trackbacks, rss...

Happens with a lot of new sites, ranks high due to freshness and then will drop, usually after 2/3 months things should start to even out

Hmm personally wouldnt go to that expense just yet or bother with bookmarking.
Build content naturally that attracts links.

This seems to state that there is a 'guaranteed fix' - there is no such thing. If there was such a guarantee then I am sure that all promotional companies would be willing to defer payment until after each client had made more money than the client's investment in the 'fees' for such work. Now that would be novel.

My advice is to to do some real work on learning what does and does not work for your particular niche. There are countless guides on what constitutes good basic SEO, read some.

You may well be the greatest marketing genius since Dale Carnegie. However, your website's index page is a PR1 with grey-barred internal pages and the first one I looked at was a straight copy of a wikipedia page which is also on 69,000 other sites according to Google. I would take a bit of convincing about your super-human abilities and I would read your writings with a little more respect if you refrained from insulting everyone who dared to criticize your claims.
